The Mad Hatter Hotel (South
Bank of the Thames)
In the words of the hotel, the reason
for their unusual name is because they are “mad about
service, mad about food, mad about beer… and mad about
you”. The nineteenth century exterior
hides the fact that this is a modern hotel with 3 star
facilities. It has 30 en-suite bedrooms, all
elegantly furnished and with plenty of character, and all the usual in-room amenities including a TV and a telephone.
The hotel’s location is perfect for the business traveller. A
short taxi ride takes you to the City business district, while
the leisure traveller can explore many
of London’s attractions in close proximity to the hotel.
Highly recommended is the Tate Modern: London’s most recent
gallery features an extensive collection of modern art. Other
sights include Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, The National
Theatre, the Hayward Gallery and the London Eye.
After a hard day’s business or
sightseeing you don't need to travel far for good food and
drink, since the ground floor of the Mad Hatter Hotel
is the Fuller’s Ale and Pie House. As you might imagine a pie
and a pint is their speciality, but there is also a good
selection of delicious pub meals and wines. It is a great
place to meet friends for lunch, or to enjoy an informal dinner or
drink. There is no parking at the Mad Hatter
Hotel. However, buses and the Underground are easily
accessible, with the nearest tube stations being Southwark and
Waterloo.
